Pakistan's 1 Conference on Gender and Trade
Organized by New World Concepts, Pakistan’s first conference on Gender and Trade, Closing the Gender Gap : A Tool for Economic and Trade Development, co-hosted by the World Bank Group, Pakistan Women Entrepreneurs Network for Trade (WE-NET), Ministry of Commerce with the support of the Australian Government addressed issues regarding gender inclusiveness in Pakistan’s trade policy. The conference highlighted the gains of closing the gender gap in terms of growth, exports and jobs in Pakistan and raising awareness within the area of women’s economic empowerment.
Launch of Pakistan Women Entrepreneurs Network for Trade
Pakistan Women Entrepreneurs Network for Trade (WE-NET) was launched on Thursday, 9th November 2017 at Karachi, Pakistan, creating a representative platform for women entrepreneurs in trade of goods and services. The launch event was supported by the World Bank Group (WBG) and the Australian High Commission. The event was organized by New World Concepts and featured Mr. Illangovan Patchamuthu, Country Director, World Bank Group; Her Excellency Ms. Margaret Adamson, High Commissioner of Australia to Pakistan; Dr. Gulden Tarktan, Founding Chair, W20; Ms. Yesim Sevig, Secretary General KAGIDER (Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey) and Ms. Yasmin Hyder, Founder and President WE-NET and CEO, New World Concepts.
